Cases in Cardiology wins “People’s Choice” Award
Charlotesville, Virginia (10 August 1997) — “And the winner is...” “Cases in Cardiology”, a CD-ROM for primary care physicians, received a “People’s Choice Award” at the 8th annual Macromedia International User User Conference in San Francisco, CA. Tom McCrystal of Creative Perspectives inc. accepted the award, which was presented by Macromedia’s Chairman Bud Colligan, President Rob Burgess, and conference organizer Sheri Kramer. Creative Perspectives was the CD-ROM’s developer. “It wasn’t surprising to see Creative Perspectives win a Macromedia People’s Choice Award,” Colligan remarked. “They’ve broken a lot of new ground with their work over the last eight years. Cases in Cardiology is no exception--it’s an incredible piece of work! It really shows what can be done using Macromedia’s tools.” This year’s competition was notable for its international flavor. Cases in Cardiology, named “Best Educational Multimedia”, joined winners from England, Spain, Brazil, Chile, Canada,and New Zealand. Finalists in 16 categories were selected from over 1500 entrants; ballots were distributed to those attending the conference who then selected the winners. Other notable category winners included Disney and International Travel Maps. Sharing the award for educational multimedia was the Dynamic Mathematics Series, developed by Edutech Media Pte Ltd., Singapore. “The ultimate judges for this competition are some of the best designers and developers actually working in the industry,” said McCrystal. “There’s nothing else quite like it. Developed to address the continuing education needs of medical professionals, Cases in Cardiology uses a unique “case presentation methodology” to help users sharpen their diagnostic and patient management skills through case studies. Each case is supported by pertinent clinical studies and appropriate patient medical imagery, including: EKG’s, echocardiograms, nuclear imaging, cineangiograms, and 3-D models of the heart. Cases in Cardiology is published by Carden Jennings Publishing Co., Ltd., Charlottesville, Virginia.
