Brochure for Accelerated Masters Degree, UVA's School of Engineering and Applied Science
In 1999, the Systems and Information Engineering Department in conjunction with the Darden School at the University of Virginia launched an Accelerated Masters Degree program targeted at working professionals in Northern Virginia.
Northern Virginia is a hotbed for technology companies that serve both federal agencies and private business and the Accelerated Master's Degree Program was designed to hone business skills and polish engineering aptitude.
They turned to Creative Perspectives to design and produce program launch materials that included a brochure, website and advertising. One of the challenges Creative Perspectives faced was communicating the benefits of the program to a mixed audience consisting of potential students, corporate managers, and industry executives. This entailed defining systems engineering to non-technical readers. The use of real-world examples illustrated how systems engineering skill sets are applied to create profitable solutions for seemingly intractable business problems.
The true measure of marketing success - the program has enjoyed full enrollment since its inception.
