Client: Carden Jennings Publishing for Astra Merck
Interactive CME program
Today, advances in medical care are nearly an everyday occurrence. Primary care physicians are faced with the difficult challenge of keeping up with new developments across a wide range of medical specialties.
Creative Perspectives was engaged by Carden Jennings Publishing to develop an interactive CD-ROM, Cases in Cardiology™, that would help physicians sharpen their diagnostic and patient management skills while meeting their CME requirements.
Cases in Cardiology™ is based on a series of situations that physicians might encounter in the course of their practice. Each interactive case is supported by pertinent clinical studies as well as medical imagery such as EKGs, nuclear imaging, cine-angiograms, and 3-D models of the heart. Integrating these elements, while allowing a high degree of interactivity, was one of the challenges that Creative Perspectives faced.
Refined through a series of physician focus groups, the interface was specifically designed to facilitate case presentation. A practicing cardiologist introduces each case, and then leads the user through key decisions in diagnosing and treating each patient. Cases in Cardiology was well received by the medical community. It was accredited for six hours of AMA Category I CME credit, a substantial portion of a physician's yearly requirement.
