Ellen White Named to AV Video Multimedia Producer Magazine’s Top 100

Charlottesville, Virginia — Ellen White, President and Creative Director of Creative Perspectives, Inc, has been named to AV Video Multimedia Producer magazine’s “Top 100 Producers for 2000.”

For the past six years the magazine has honored those who “use their innovation and talent to raise [the] standards” of the dynamic business media industry by creating a top 100 list. Nominations are collected from the United States and Canada and a panel of judges made up of veteran producers, independent producers and executives from key industry associations select those who have made the greatest mark on the industry.

White, with her Charlottesville, Virginia-based firm, joins fellow Top 100 producers from New York City, Calgary, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco on the influential list. Her projects in 2000 included work for Broadslate Networks, Allergan, Kesmai Gamestorm (an EA company), and the International Brain Injury Association.

White says of her success, “I’m honored by this recognition. It’s great to be recognized by your peers and colleagues for your work. When we started producing computer multimedia back in the early 1990s, you would have been hard-pressed to scrape together 100 people to put on a list. I’m especially humbled by this award in the context of how many people are working in multimedia today, and all of the amazing work others are doing.”

White says her company has been successful by being “able to shift on a dime and evolve with the industry.” She adds, “We’ve gone from interactive kiosks to CD-ROMs to multimedia distributed over the Internet all in the span of a decade. We’ve just entered into some very exciting new territory with a remote multimedia presentation product we’re marketing under the brand name PitchSmart. This industry moves too fast to sit still.”

White’s Top 100 ranking joins a list of awards she’s won for client work including: The Macromedia People Choice Award, Macromedia’s People’s Choice Gallery, and a finalist spot for the New Media Invision Award.

Cases in Cardiology wins “People’s Choice” Award

Charlotesville, Virginia (10 August 1997) — “And the winner is...”

Cases in Cardiology, a CD-ROM for primary care physicians, received a “People’s Choice” Award at the 8th annual Macromedia International User Conference in San Francisco, CA. Presented by Macromedia’s Chairman Bud Colligan, President Rob Burgess, and conference organizer Sheri Kramer, Tom McCrystal accepted the award on behalf of Creative Perspectives - developer of the award-winning CD-ROM.

“It wasn’t surprising to see Creative Perspectives win a Macromedia People’s Choice Award,” Colligan remarked. “They’ve broken a lot of new ground with their work over the last eight years. Cases in Cardiology is no exception - it’s an incredible piece of work! It really shows what can be done using Macromedia’s tools.”

This year’s competition was notable for its international flavor. Cases in Cardiology, named “Best Educational Multimedia”, joined winners from England, Spain, Brazil, Chile, Canada, and New Zealand. Finalists in 16 categories were selected from over 1500 entrants; ballots were distributed to those attending the conference who then selected the winners. Other notable category winners included Disney and International Travel Maps. Sharing the award for educational multimedia was the Dynamic Mathematics Series, developed by Edutech Media Pte Ltd., Singapore.

“The ultimate judges for this competition are some of the best designers and developers actually working in the industry,” said McCrystal. “There’s nothing else quite like it. It’s a huge honor for the whole team.”

“What really impressed me was how simple Cases in Cardiology is to use, despite the complex information on the CD. Creative Perspectives designed a beautiful, elegant interface,” commented Ronnie Sampson, President of Viridian, a San Francisco-based multimedia developer who attended the conference.

Developed to address the continuing education needs of medical professionals, Cases in Cardiology uses a unique “case presentation methodology” to help users sharpen their diagnostic and patient management skills through case studies. Each case is supported by pertinent clinical studies and appropriate patient medical imagery, including: EKG’s, echocardiograms, nuclear imaging, cineangiograms, and 3-D models of the heart.

Cases in Cardiology is published by Carden Jennings Publishing Co., Ltd., Charlottesville, Virginia. Carden Jennings is a premier publisher in the area of science and medicine, reaching national and international markets. Carden Jennings produces twenty print titles, among them eight respected international science publications.
